What does this test measure?
Measures the level of progesterone in the blood — a hormone released by the ovary after ovulation that prepares the uterine lining for pregnancy and regulates the menstrual cycle.
Why is it ordered?
Used to check whether ovulation has occurred, evaluate menstrual irregularities and fertility problems, and monitor early pregnancy health. Often ordered with estradiol and LH.
