What does this test measure?
Measures the level or activity of Lipoprotein-associated Phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) in the blood — an enzyme associated with inflammation of the blood vessel walls.
Why is it ordered?
Used to help assess the risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke, alongside traditional risk factors. It is interpreted within the full clinical picture and with other tests such as C-reactive protein.
