What does this test measure?
Measures the level of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) in the blood — a pituitary hormone that regulates reproductive function. In women it triggers ovulation; in men it stimulates testosterone production in the testes.
Why is it ordered?
Used to assess fertility and the function of the pituitary gland, ovaries, or testes. Helps identify causes of infertility, menstrual irregularities, and early or delayed puberty. Often ordered together with FSH.
