What does this test measure?
Measures the level of Heart-type Fatty Acid-Binding Protein (H-FABP) in the blood — a protein released rapidly from heart muscle when it is damaged.
Why is it ordered?
Used to help detect early heart muscle injury, as it rises soon after injury. It is interpreted alongside other more specific cardiac tests (such as troponin) and within the full clinical picture.
