What does this test measure?
Measures the level of Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) in the blood — a pituitary hormone. In women it regulates egg growth and the menstrual cycle; in men it regulates sperm production.
Why is it ordered?
Used together with LH to assess fertility and reproductive function. Helps diagnose causes of infertility, menstrual disorders, puberty disorders, and pituitary problems. A high level may indicate reduced ovarian or testicular function.
