What does this test measure?
Measures the level of folate (folic acid, vitamin B9) in the blood — a vitamin essential for red blood cell formation, cell division, and DNA production.
Why is it ordered?
Used to detect folate deficiency, evaluate causes of anemia (especially megaloblastic anemia), and monitor nutritional status. Often ordered together with vitamin B12.
