What does this test measure?
Measures the level of Cancer Antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3) in the blood — a protein that can rise in breast cancer, especially in advanced stages.
Why is it ordered?
Used mainly to monitor breast cancer's response to treatment and watch for recurrence, not for diagnosis alone and not for early screening. It can also rise in benign conditions, so it is interpreted within the full clinical picture.
