What does this test measure?
Measures the level of Cancer Antigen 125 (CA-125) in the blood — a protein that can rise in ovarian cancer and some other conditions.
Why is it ordered?
Used mainly to monitor ovarian cancer's response to treatment and watch for recurrence, not for diagnosis alone. It can also rise in benign conditions (such as menstruation, pregnancy, and endometriosis), so it is interpreted within the full clinical picture.
