What does this test measure?

Zinc, a transition metal essential to human nutrition and a component of more than 200 metalloenzymes.

Why is it ordered?

Severe zinc deficiency causes depressed growth, stunting and increased infections, while milder deficiency affects immune function, cognition, skin and vision; in seminal plasma zinc reflects prostatic secretory function and fertility.
