What does this test measure?
Immunoglobulin G (IgG), the major immunoglobulin produced by plasma cells, making up about 75% of total immunoglobulins.
Why is it ordered?
IgG is decreased in inherited or acquired immunoglobulin deficiencies; it is increased in autoimmune responses and chronic active hepatitis, and monoclonal IgG rises in multiple myeloma and other plasma-cell disorders.

Adults: 700–1600 mg/dL
